Celebrating National Physical Therapy Month
October is National Physical Therapy Month! At Kinetix, we’re celebrating not only the impact physical therapy has on our patients but also the continued evolution of our profession toward a greater primary care role for musculoskeletal conditions.
Recently, we held an in-house manual therapy training focused on sharpening joint mobilization skills and other hands-on treatment techniques that improve mobility. We also hosted a continuing education course taught by Hands-On Diagnostics, which highlighted the foundations of diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound, electromyography (EMG), and nerve conduction studies (NCS). These advanced diagnostic tools help our clinicians understand more precisely the source of joint, muscle, or nerve related symptoms, which often leads to a more specific treatment plan and better outcomes for our patients.
We’re proud to be part of a profession that continues to advance and even prouder of our team for continually learning, growing, and bringing that knowledge back to the patients we serve.
Seven Ways Physical Therapy Gets You Moving Again
Persistent pain can make it difficult to stay active. Over time, this lack of activity can lead to weaker muscles, reduced mobility, and even more discomfort. As the cycle persists, important activities like gardening or playing with your grandkids can start to feel out of reach.
Fortunately, physical therapy can help break the cycle in a few key ways:
Reducing Pain While Keeping You Moving
Prolonged rest is rarely the best answer for ongoing back pain or similar conditions. Our team can guide you through progressive exercises tailored to your current pain levels and abilities. They’re designed to calm pain and encourage healing while keeping your joints and muscles moving.
As your symptoms improve, activities become more comfortable, and confidence begins to return.
Improving Strength Where Your Body Needs It Most
Targeted strengthening exercises help rebuild the physical capacity around the spine, hips, knees, shoulders, and other joints, which is essential for improving stability, reducing unnecessary strain, and making everyday movements feel easier. Our PTs can show you how to build strength in a way that allows your body to gradually adapt over time.
Restoring Healthy Movement
Tight muscles and restricted joints can limit your ability to bend, reach, turn, or walk comfortably. We combine stretching, mobility exercises, and hands-on techniques to improve range of motion and restore normal movement, which can help decrease stress on irritated tissues and make daily activities feel easier.
Correcting Poor Movement Habits
Pain or injury can sometimes change how comfortable or confident you feel during certain movements. Our team can look at how you walk, lift, reach, exercise, or perform other meaningful activities. We can then use practice, exercise, and individualized strategies to help you build the strength, control, and confidence those tasks require.
Building Better Balance
Sometimes, it’s a balance issue that can keep you from being as active as you’d like, especially if you’re older. That’s why we offer balance training that helps improve coordination, reaction time, and overall stability. Better balance addresses factors that may contribute to the risk of falls while boosting your movement confidence so you can enjoy your favorite activities.
Supporting Long-Term Spine Health
Back pain is one of the most common reasons people visit us at Kinetix Physical Therapy, and we work to provide treatment that goes far beyond mere symptom relief. Our team can recommend exercises to improve core strength, hip mobility, movement posture, and body mechanics for lifting or daily activities. These strategies also help lower the risk of future flare-ups and support better long-term function.
Creating a Personalized Plan That Fits Your Goals
No two people experience pain in exactly the same way. Whether your goal is going for an evening walk, returning to pickleball, or gardening without discomfort, our team will build a treatment plan around your unique needs.
In addition to our comprehensive physical exams, we offer in-house diagnostic services, including ultrasound and EMG/NCS studies, which can help us get a more complete picture of the health and function of your muscles, joints, and nerves. This allows us to more easily monitor your progress, adjust exercises as you improve, and provide the tools you need to stay active even after therapy ends.

4 Tips For a Healthy Halloween
Make room for Halloween fun with a few simple ways to enjoy the treats, stay active, and feel comfortable throughout the evening.
Eat Before the Candy
Heading out for trick-or-treating or a Halloween party? Have a balanced meal or snack first. Filling up on protein, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can help keep you from arriving at the candy bowl too hungry.
Enjoy Candy in Moderation
You don’t have to ban candy to have a healthy Halloween! Pick a few favorites, enjoy them slowly, and remember that you can always save the rest for another day. Halloween is about enjoying yourself—not winning a competition to see who can eat the most mini chocolate bars.
Turn Trick-or-Treating Into Exercise
All that walking from house to house can add up to plenty of physical activity. Take the long way around the neighborhood, walk instead of drive when possible, and enjoy the extra movement as part of the evening’s fun.
Choose Comfortable Shoes
That amazing costume won’t be so amazing if your feet are screaming by the end of the night. Wear comfortable, supportive shoes that fit well, especially if you’ll be walking for an hour or more. Your feet will thank you when the trick-or-treating is over.
Keep Moving. Feel Your Best.
